Around and About

Robin Hoods Bay: - is an historic fishing village made up of small picturesque cottages piled on the side of a steep hill, running down to the sea. It is situated between Whitby and Scarborough. It is a justifiably famous holiday spot; combining fantastic scenery with many pubs, teashops, second hand bookshops and freshly caught fish. The village marks the end of the famous coast-to-coast walk, from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay. The beach is varied and of great geological interest. It is both sandy and stony with rock pools, fossils and a hidden shipwreck. It gets even lovelier if you walk along to Boggle Hole and Stoop Beck. At the far end of the bay is Ravenscar with its hotel perched on the headland. There are many cliff walks with great views and the disused railway track which is now used for walking, cycling, or riding. There are various riding stables around.
